Tree Planting in Remembrance of Bea @ Berrien Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
May 6 @ 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Tree Planting in Remembrance of Bea @ Berrien Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

Marilyn Klawiter and Rev. Jim McConnell are planning an informal outdoor gathering to plant a tree at BUUF in memory of long-time member (and color designer) Bea Takeuchi. It will take place at 5 p.m. this coming Thursday, May 6—the day that would have been Bea’s 100th birthday. We hope friends of Bea will come to share memories of Bea and that BUUFers who didn’t know her will come to learn what made her so special to our community. Everyone is invited to bring lawn chairs, wine, soda, nibbles—anything they’d like to share or enjoy—and of course masks.

Builder’s Challenge for RE Kids: “Transportation Accessibility”

Builder’s Challenge for RE Kids: "Transportation Accessibility"

On May 9th we will continue the Transportation Accessibility challenge. The Zoom link will be made available with the Sunday Service link.

Transportation accessibility:

Transportation is necessary to get to work, get groceries, go to the doctor and for so much more. Not everyone can afford a car and cars contribute to climate change, what are other ways to create transportation in your town?

Things to keep in mind when building your town:

  • How do people get around?
  • Is there mass transportation?
  • How do people leave the city when they need to?
  • Is your town pedestrian and/or bike friendly?
  • Can everyone afford convenient transportation?
  • How does your transportation affect the environment?

Citizens' Climate Lobby: "Statewide Meeting with Senator Peters"

Senator Peters has generously agreed to a statewide meeting with CCL members!

This is an important opportunity to build CCL’s relationship with the Senator, learn more about his thoughts on effective climate policy, and let him see the strong support for carbon pricing across Michigan.

The online meeting is this Friday, May 14, 11:40AM –  12:25PM. Please register in advance for the event by clicking here.  There’s no charge to attend. When you register you will receive login information as well as a link to submit climate legislation questions you hope the Senator addresses.
