You are warmly invited to the upcoming UU AllComers dinner on Saturday, November 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. UU AllComers is a special evening of dinner, fellowship and discussion. Organizers provide a light supper so that Berrien UU friends old and new can get to know each other and learn more about BUUF and Unitarian Universalism.
To keep things fun and spirited, we are introducing some new twists this time around. There will be musical entertainment and possibly even a skit! Also, everyone who attends will be entered into a raffle for door prizes!
All are encouraged to attend this event! Child care will be provided upon request. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by Thursday, November 14. Please include any dietary restrictions in your RSVP so we can adjust the menu as needed.
Lisa Fuller will lead the first session of the Shared Pulpit program on Monday, November 18, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Six BUUFers have already signed up to participate, and there is room for a maximum of two more. Participants are asked to buy the book “Shared Pulpit” and read the Introduction prior to attending. There will be tea, water and a light snack at this first session.
The Shared Pulpit is “is a complete workshop to help lay people gain experience writing and preaching a full-length sermon for their congregation. This easy-to-use guide for both facilitators and participants provides a step-by-step lesson plan for eight sessions. Workshop members learn about the theory and theology of preaching, then practice writing and speaking with authenticity, gradually building toward composing quality 20-minute sermons. Workshop leaders learn to foster a supportive environment in which participants offer one another helpful feedback. The Shared Pulpit includes a separate leader’s guide, readings for homework, sample sermons, and exercises to help first-time preachers polish their preaching craft.”
