Sunday Service: "How Unitarian Universalism Became the World's Very First Do-It-Yourself Religion: Part II" @ Berrien Unitarian Universalist Fellowship | Saint Joseph | Michigan | United States
On Sunday September 16th the topic of the service is: “How Unitarian Universalism Became the World’s Very First Do-It-Yourself Religion: Part II.” In Part I, Rev. Jim McConnell started with Amenhotep, Egyptian Pharaoh, grandfather to King Tut, and world’s first monotheist and worked through the following 1800 years to the Emperor Constantine who made Christianity the religion of the Roman Empire and is the person most responsible for unifying Christian belief.
In Part II we will start with the highly influential and sexually conflicted Augustine, who is the person most responsible for many of us feeling guilty when we are having a bit of fun, and move through religious history to Luther, whose theology basically laid the groundwork for Unitarian Universalism and will probably insure the destruction of Orthodox Christianity.
Additionally, Harvey Johnson, Dave Sarra, and Joanne Krettek will share how they ‘do their own religion.’  Tina Eberly will bring the “Story for All Ages.”  Nico Rojas will  sit in the “Poet’s Corner.” The BUUF Singers will bring us some Special Music.  And, Candace will be at the piano.
This promises to be an interesting service.
Berrien UU cannot give you a religion.  It can, however, help you find the tools to make your own. Come and Enjoy.
