The Social Justice Committee is planning to meet Wednesday, March 3, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. The purposes are to conduct a brief evaluation of social justice activities and begin thinking about the social justice budget for the 2021 – 2022 fiscal year. The draft agenda is as follows.
Draft Meeting Agenda:
1. Report on our current collaboration with non-profit organizations: Neighbors Organizing Against Racism, Race Relations Council, and Interfaith Action of Southwest Michigan
2. Collaboration with BUUF programs: During the 2020 – 2021 program year, the Social Justice Committee has provided six readings on LGBTQ+ and racial justice for Sunday services, has cooperated on book discussions, and supported meals served by the Benton Harbor Soup Kitchen. How would you evaluate our committee’s involvement in these programs? Do we have any new priorities for the 2021 – 2022 program year, for example, tutoring at public schools?
3. Budget for 2021-22: In May we will need to submit a financial budget for programs the Social Justice Committee recommends supporting in the next fiscal year.
