Old Business
Building Energy Audit was performed on January 10, 2016 by Tom Hackley, Jim Fuller and Harvey Johnson. The results will be shared ASAP. Still compiling data. The Energy audit will be part of our application and used as a baseline to compare to future.
New Business
Discussed framework of GS candidate application. Will provide application to all GS team.
We are in process of performing Assessments of 4 focus areas.
- Sustainable Living – Harvey will write (ex. prog thermos, hot water turn down restroom temp )
- Worship and Celebration – need volunteer to write
- Religious Education – Dave Sarra has begun to write RE assessment
- Environmental Justice – need volunteer to write
Discussed possible future GS projects
- Sustainable Living – stop mowing lawn with gasoline powered mower and paying approx. $1000 per year. Obtain electric mower and mow only part of front. Plant the remaining front section with trees, wild flower. HJ checked with Lincoln Twsp. No code that dictates property maint. Discussed Green burial . Need vol. to check with Lincoln twsp on code.
- Environmental Justice – Assist urban gardening project in Benton Harbor. Jim Fuller will provide further information. Find organic growers and partner by purchasing produce (ex. Strawberries for Strawberry social fundraiser). Learn about and teach sustainable food issues (ex. Meat production)
