This sermon is in celebration of the dark. It is in acknowledgment of setting the
clock back, so that it gets dark earlier in the evening and light earlier in the morning.
This contrived economy of the day allows children to go to school in the light, and it
allows us adults to have some light in our days, too many of which probably begin so
early and go so long that we almost miss the sun entirely. The days have been getting
shorter for some time. The time we have (to do the things that we want to do in life) is
getting shorter all the time…
