Sunday, May 5, 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM

This Sunday we celebrate another special anniversary: Rev. Jim McConnell’s 10th year serving as our fellowship’s religious leader. Almost the entire Sunday service will be dedicated to honoring Rev. Jim’s many contributions, not only behind the pulpit, but out in the community volunteering or providing pastoral care; inside the fellowship building engaging in maintenance and remodeling projects or participating in committee meetings, children’s activities and small group discussions; or at home corresponding with members and crafting materials needed by the fellowship. In every aspect of his life, Jim lives out our faith’s seven principles on a daily basis, enlightening and inspiring each of us along our own spiritual journey.

Since Rev. Jim is the guest of honor this Sunday, he will not be giving the homily. We have instead lined up several speakers and musical numbers, along with a few surprises for Jim. Julie Williams will be our service leader. Anyone who would like to bring a card with a special message for Jim is invited to do so.

This service will also include a special Ingathering Ceremony for those who would like to become formal members of our fellowship. They will sign our membership book and commit to our principles and mission, while the fellowship commits to support them and include them fully in its community. Three friends have already expressed interest in formalizing their membership during this ceremony. Others are invited to do so.

Following the service please join the celebratory feast in honor of Jim (otherwise known as our First-Sunday-of-the-Month potluck). Bring a dish to pass, or just bring your appetite. Then rejoin in the sanctuary for Circle Talk, during which you are invited to share a special memory of Jim or personal tribute.

Let’s come together and have some fun as we celebrate our beloved minister and his decade of love and service to BUUF!
