This Sunday, September 1st, is Blessing of the Backpacks Sunday. We will send our young ones (including college bound) back to school with a blessing of hope and success for them in the upcoming academic year. Katharine Lion and Rev. Jim McConnell will give the blessings and Candace Onweller will be at the piano. Rev. Jim will bring a sermon titled: “What’s in Your Backpack?” in which he will investigate those things that we take with us in our metaphorical backpacks to help us through life’s sometimes difficult and occasionally shattering life experiences. Jim will also be providing the special music.
Make sure your young ones bring their backpacks. And don’t forget to wear your picnic clothes. Our annual End-of-Summer Picnic is at Candace’s house following the service.
