This Sunday, September 13th, we will celebrate our annual “Mingling of the Waters Ceremony” and our “Blessing of the Backpacks Ceremony.” Joanne Krettek and Janice Zerfas, with the help of Lois Krettek and Oliver Rojas, will officiate at the “Mingling of the Waters” and Rev. Jim McConnell will officiate at the “Blessing of the Backpacks.” The young ones will be asked to share what they want to put in their actual backpacks as they begin the school year and the adults are invited to share what they carry in their metaphorical backpacks that is really important for living a meaningful, soulful life. Items for metaphorical backpacks might include songs, poetry, memories, stories of overcoming adversity, remembrance of a mother’s love, or any number of things that brings forth Soul. Additionally, Rev. McConnell will share one of the things he carries in his metaphorical backpack, in a 90 second sermon, and the BUUF Musicians will have some really great music. Join on Zoom.
