The theme for this Sunday the 19th is: Leaning into the Light and is based on the position of the earth’s Northern Hemisphere relative to the Sun on the Summer Solstice. Rev. Jim McConnell will, in both the SFAA and the sermon, use the Windigo myth of the Potawatomi peoples to talk about the spiritual struggle between Light and Dark in the Human Spirit and how we can see the environmental footprint of Windigo in deforested hillsides, tailings ponds, coal strip mines, dying coral reefs, epidemics of heart disease, diabetes, and the exploitation of the resources of developing countries by first world powers.
This Sunday will NOT be an intergenerational service. There will be an outdoor RE class for children, weather permitting. See you Sunday in person or over Zoom!
