Sunday Service: "Happy Birthday, Walt Whitman" @ Berrien Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
This Sunday, May 19th, we celebrate the 200th birthday of the great American poet and essayist Walt Whitman, who is considered one of America’s most influential gay men.  Perhaps Whitman’s greatest teaching for us is that we can, in spite of the immensity of life and our own complex, multiple-layered psychologies, embrace life with great joy, and receive from life a bounty of spiritual riches.
Several fellowship members will be contributing to the service. Vanessa Crenshaw will light the Chalice, Gene Ruggless will  lead us in our Affirmation, and Julie Williams will talk about what it means to be a “Welcoming Congregation.” Dorothy Long and Sandy Walker will share some of Whitman’s poetry, the BUUF Musicians will share some special music, Harvey Johnson will lead us in song, and Candace Onweller will be accompanying on the piano. For the homily, Rev. Jim McConnell will bring a message titled: “I stand Before a Million Universes.”
See you there.
