Next Sunday, July 5th is Black Lives Matter Sunday at BUUF. We have, in an expanded service, three guest speakers for that day. Dr. Darryl Heller Director of the South Bend Civil rights Heritage Center, assistant professor of Women’s and Gender Studies and a member of Black Lives Matter- South Bend, will speak on ”Reparation as a way to Heal Society.”
Regina Williams-Preston, educator, former South Bend Common Councilwoman, President of the St. Joseph County Community Forum for Economic Justice, and Coordinator for the South Bend Empowerment Zone, will speak on “Systemic Racism in Public Schools.”
Rev. Rudy Gourdine, retired Presbyterian Minister, will speak on his family’s experience with racism during WWII. Rudy spent the last 30 years of his ministry as a chaplain for the chronically mentally ill at Oaklawn Community Mental Health Center, Elkhart, Indiana.
Our own Tracie Crenshaw (pictured at right) will bring us “A Vision in Memphis.”
Katharine Lion, our Director of Religious Education, will tell the Story for all Ages. And, as usual, The BUUF Musicians will have some great music for us.
