Join us on Thursday July 12th from 7 – 9pm (potluck snacks) or on Friday July 13th from 11am – 1pm (potluck lunch). We will be watching two Ted Talks on how two artists protest racism in the United States and in South Africa. Multidisciplinary artist, Paul Rucker, unstitches the symbols and legacy of systematic racism in the U.S. and finds ways that they no longer have power over us. While in Cape Town, Sethembile Msezane becomes a living sculpture to reclaim the city and public spaces for her community. After the videos, we will have a conversation on how we can use art as protest for a goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all. No artistic talent necessary!
