Citizens’ Climate Lobby St. Joe and Kalamazoo chapters will meet with the Kalamazoo Climate Crisis Coalition for a vegan picnic, music, and an opportunity to chat with fellow climate advocates at the Kalamazoo Nature Center at 11am Saturday, July 10th. Reservations are required. The CCL National Call and Chapter Meeting will be held there at 1 p.m. and also on Zoom.
This outdoor, in-person event will focus on building relationships and supporting collective action to address the climate crisis. Please RSVP as an individual/family with CCL as your group affiliation; organizers need numbers for planning and your individual responses to questions help the coalition go forward.
Light vegan picnic fare will be provided. This is a pack it in, pack it out, zero-waste event. Please bring your own lawn chair/blanket, water/drinks, additional snacks, plate, utensils, and napkins (a limited amount of these items will be provided for those unable to bring their own).
Let KNC welcome staff know you are there for the KCCC celebration to receive free admission and follow signs for camp entrance and camp parking lot. Masks are not required for outdoor events at this time, but stay tuned for updated guidance in case weather necessitates a move to inside the Camp Barn. *Suggested Hikes: The Fern Valley Trail, from the celebration site, takes you through a climate resilient sugar bush planting and loops around through a forested valley. Connect from Fern Valley to the Beech Maple Trail down to the Kalamazoo River for a longer hike if you wish or loop through the sunny prairie or blooming arboretum.
**The CCL chapter meeting will take place at the nature center. For those who cannot attend, please join via Zoom at 2pm, following the national call.
