Benton Harbor / St. Joseph Women's Unity Walk @ Fisherman's Park

“I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own.” –Audre Lorde

Come celebrate Women’s History Month with an intersectional speaker program followed by a symbolic walk across BICENTENNIAL Bridge. If you are planning to attend, please connect with Katharine Lion and help represent Berrien UU. Also, Nico Rojas will be filming the march for a future BUUF video.

Intersectional SPEAKER PROGRAM BEGINS at 1:00 PM in FISHERMAN’S PARK on the Benton Harbor side of the Bicentennial Bridge.

WE WILL BEGIN OUR UNITY WALK ACROSS THE BRIDGE AT 2:00 PM.

If you are able, it is recommended that you PARK in the BERRIEN COUNTY COURTHOUSE parking lot (811 Port Street, St. Joseph) STARTING AROUND NOON, and walk over to the STARTING POINT in the park in Benton Harbor.

The route is .9 miles, one way.

IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE: Volunteers will be available to shuttle participants from the courthouse parking lot to Fisherman’s Park. And ALSO AFTER THE EVENT from the ending point at the Berrien County Courthouse BACK TO alternate parking in the BH Charter School Academy parking lot (455 Riverview Dr.). There is limited handicapped parking in the park itself.

Seating will be available during the speaker program for those who require it. Also, the Berrien County Democratic Women are sponsoring an AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE interpreter. A van will be available to carry participants who wish to ride across the bridge. We will also have volunteers able and willing to help push wheel chairs.
