Joys and Sorrows

What a joy to see so many BUUFers get into the spirit at last Sunday's service: "60's Music - A Voice of a Generation," planned and led by Tracie Crenshaw. Pictured above are Gretchen Ohmann and Dave Sarra in their tie-dye t-shirts and pianist Candace Onweller in her 60's style outfit. It was also wonderful to have so many special guests (friends of Tracie and Vanessa Crenshaw) join the service.

Nico Rojas filmed parts of Sunday's service for an upcoming BUUF video. He will also be at the Women's Unity Walk on Saturday from 1-3 PM filming BUUFers who are participating. Be sure to let Katharine Lion know if you can join this event.

Candace Onweller expressed her sorrow at the loss of her husband's sister, who passed away from lung cancer. We wish peace and comfort for Candace's family.

BUUF's Mindfulness Workshop on Saturday ("Singing Meditation, Sound and Silence") was attended and enjoyed by 12 participants, some new to this workshop series. Thank you to those who attended, and thank you to Beth La Fleur for leading this workshop!

One final joy this week is the lovely artwork Lisa Quinlan created for BUUF's Anniversary Celebration invitations (pictured below). Be on the lookout for your postcard invitation to arrive in the mail!

To share your joys and sorrows with the larger BUUF community send an email to Office@BerrienUU.org or contact Rev. Jim McConnell at Minister@BerrienUU.org or 574-229-6536.

Sunday Service

Sunday Service: "Spring Equinox Celebration"

"Spring Equinox Celebration"

March 17,
10:30am - 11:30am

This Sunday we will honor the balance between dark and light with a spring equinox drumming circle. Through the rhythm and energy of upbeat drumming, we will celebrate this season of birth and renewal. Bring your drums if you have them, or use those provided by the fellowship. This is an intergenerational service that is open to people of all ages and abilities. Gretchen Ohmann will guide the group in this meditative practice that centers our energy on hope, renewal and healing, and brings us into community with the earth. Feel free to help decorate our altar with symbols of spring, including artwork.

As usual, there will be a BUUF Musicians rehearsal prior to the service. Two team meetings will be held following the service: Green Sanctuary and Nominating Committee.

“A garden is always a series of losses set against a few triumphs, like life itself.” May Sarton.

Any questions may be emailed to Katharine (dre@berrienuu.org). Attached is a link to the readings and questions which you may choose to review before the meeting. These readings are also available on our website.

Registration for Chalice Sparx Family Camp & Retreat is now open. Join us July 11-14 in Sturgis, Michigan for an amazing all ages experience at lovely Amigo Centre in southwestern Michigan.

At Chalice Sparx camp and retreat for families you will experience a truly multigenerational community. There are no camp counselors here to whisk away the children separate from their families. Here we learn together, worship together and explore together in a community of all ages – including elders who complete our multigenerational village.

We also have fun together. Swimming, hiking the trails and the labyrinth, canoeing, archery, popcorn popped in a kettle over an open fire, and of course, S’mores and singing camp songs.

Check out the website of our non-profit organization run by Unitarian Universalist religious educators, ministers and lay persons from all over the Midwest: www.chalicesparx.org. Like us on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/chalicesparx/ and join us in Michigan July 11-14.
