The Silverwolf Experience: Episode One

This coming Sunday we will be exploring a new topic brought to us by Dave Richardson. We will be exploring the ecstatic religious experience as an altered state of consciousness. Rachel Reed & Jaryn Ruggless will bring us the Story for All Ages.
While OWL classes have ended, we will continue to have RE classes for kids of all ages.

Announcements

Parents’ Night In: Kids will have the chance to establish a Kid’s Group. For the kids, by the kids.
  • Jim Fuller, BUUF Treasurer: The May Market brought in $1,803 net, after costs, so far. More is coming in. [Please see May Market special email sent out by Lisa Fuller for full details.]
  • Brett Maccani: I will not be able to lead and set up our spot (our spot is paid for) at OutCenter's PrideFest this year. There are three dates and three locations this year: Benton Harbor, Cass County, and Niles. We are looking for one or several people to take on the leadership for this. I will assist but can't be in charge of it all. The dates are: June 8, 15, & 22.
  • Diane Gibbons: Dorothy Long, from her yard, transplanted the beautiful irises you see when you drive in to BUUF. Thank you, Dorothy!
    • Dorothy Long: I was happy to get rid of them! (: I have plenty more if you are interested, please talk to me.
  • Harvey Johnson: Emma Kinnard's Children's Garden in Benton Harbor is in the process of planting. We are working on establishing a monthly Saturday for BUUFers to help out at the garden, which is one of our social justice partners. Please think about donating an hour.
  • Candace Onweller: My students' piano recital will be on Saturday, June 1st, at 5:00pm here at BUUF. All are welcome.
    • Also, June 3 at 7:00pm the Women's Choir that I sing in will be performing at the 1st Congregational Church.
    • May 23 there is a jazz concert at LMC.
  • BUUF Writers' Group: We will be using Ross Gay's nonfiction micro essays Book of Delights as we transition from Steve Leder's For You When I Am Gone. We will meet June 3rd, and 17 at Noon at BUUF. Join us! We will be meeting in three weeks, June 3rd due to Memorial Day. Then again on June 17th. Janice Zerfas & Patrice Grant
  • Janice Zerfas won first place, poetry, at the Westminster Art Festival, held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Portage, Mi. for her poem, FYI. Each year the contest theme reflects a concern about the environment. Find her poem (when it is published) at secondwave. There's an open mic reading at Portage Westminster Church, May 31, 6:00pm, to celebrate all the entries on an environmental theme. Free.
  • Diane Gibbons: Grateful thanks to Leanne, Sandy Tardy and Janice Zerfas for helping plant and clean up the front garden. With their hard work we will all enjoy a splash of color as we drive in all season long. Just FYI, all of the gardens need some TLC all season long, and it does not have to be an all-day session. An hour of weeding, planting or watering on your own or with a friend at your convenience is always welcome! Currently there is still planting, trimming and weeding that needs to be done.
