Membership Report

Feb 2016

UU Allcomers will be held quarterly this year (Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct)  Two first time visitors attended the January UU Allcomers (1/9/16)  plus Lisa, Jim, Renee, Harvey and Hilary.  The planned program included meet and greet with dinner, a brief summary of UU history (Jim McConnell), and a look at BUUF history (Lisa).  One of the participants requested less scripted presentation and more informal conversation/discussion.  Later, Jim, Lisa and Renee all agreed that BUUF history should not be part of UU Allcomers going forward.  Better to focus on what BUUF is doing now and our plans for the future.  It was exciting to have two new visitors at the event!

Membership Interest
Diane Gibbons attended UU Allcomers, several Sunday services, and assisted at Soup Kitchen.  She has asked about the path to membership.

Visitor Cards
No visitors cards sent in January, though we had several visitors.  Help is needed with this task.

Nametags
Hilary is working on making new nametags.

Brochures
Lisa and Hilary revised the Welcome brochure.  The Membership and Ways to Be Involved brochures also need revisions.

Membership/Path to Membership
There has been informal discussion about dissatisfaction with our membership levels and the path to membership.  Some have expressed a desire for just one level of membership.  Currently we have two–Members (anyone 14 and older who signs the membership book), and Voting Member (anyone 18 and older who has signed the book and made a pledge of record for current church year).  There is interest in creating a structured pathway to membership, with emphasis on the responsibility of membership.  Also, there is interest in inviting our youth to join as members.    Renee and Lisa have discussed this briefly.
