FYI

  • BUUF Member David Lloyd has asked to spread the word about bone marrow donation in regards to a family he is close to. Laura is the daughter of a friend. She is 40 with three pre-teen kids, and has acute myeloid leukemia (AML), a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow. David would like anyone who is inclined and under the age of 60 to be tested to see if a bone marrow donation can be made. Please visit www.bethematch.org to request a kit. A simple cheek swab is all that is required to see if you might be a match. If so, all you have to do is give blood to save a life.

  • After service last week, a group of young parents met and decided that It would be a good thing to create an activity for young adults with kids. So, we are going to start a program called, “Date Night.”One or two Friday or Saturday nights a month, BUUF will provide baby sitting at the church (on the church’s dime), so that the young adults can have some kind of supportive group activity. This could mean a potluck at the church, going out to a movie, seeing a play, going dancing., or any number of other things. You will be receiving more information when the details are ironed out. If you have some ideas, please let Jim McConnell know.

This Sunday, February 18th, Reverend Jim McConnell will deliver a message titled: “What Would Geronimo Do: Becoming Part of the Resistance.”

Katharine Lion will be our reader, Keely Adams will bring us the Story for All Ages, and Lisa Fuller will be sitting in the Poet’s Corner. We will be looking at the life of Apache Chief and warrior, Geronimo and fantasizing about what he would do, in the current political environment, if he had a 21st century consciousness.
