Sunday Service
Sunday, January 21st
10:30am

This Sunday marks the end of the the third week of the new year. Three weeks is about the length of time that the average New Year’s resolution lasts. It is when most of us go off our diets, stop visiting the gym, or fall into old patterns of behaviors with our loved one’s, Why is this? Why are there some areas of our lives over which we seem to have so little control. To answer this question, Rev. Jim McConnell will journey back to the first century and examine the thinking of St. Paul, who said, “Why do I do the things I don’t want to do and do not do the things I want to?” Following that, we will visit 4th century B.C.E. Greece and the playwright Aeschylus, who addresses the question of our weakness-of-will in his trilogy of plays. “The Orestia.” We will also look for the answer in ancient China and the wisdom of the Tao.

Additionally, John Tusciuk will be our reader, Julie Williams will read the classic Children’s story, “The Snowy Day,” Harvey Johnson will lead us in song, and Candace Onweller will be at the piano.
