Creative Conversations
January 18 @ 7pm

For Creative Conversations on January 18, we’ll continue with the theme of ending apathy by listening to and discussing the TED program titled “It’s Time to Reclaim Religion” by Rabbi Sharon Brous.

At a moment when the world seems to be spinning out of control, religion might feel irrelevant — or like part of the problem. But Rabbi Sharon Brous believes we can reinvent religion to meet the needs of modern life. In this impassioned talk, Brous shares four principles of a revitalized religious practice and offers faith of all kinds as a hopeful counter-narrative to the numbing realities of violence, extremism and pessimism.

Sunday Service

January 22
10:30am

Join us this Sunday for a service titled “If a Tree Falls in the Forest….?/Does the Earth Still Speak?” It will be a green service in which we will investigate what New Paradigm physics has to say about the nature of our connection to the Earth.

UU Allcomers

Saturday, January 28
6-8pm

Please join us at BUUF on Saturday, January 28, from 6-8 PM for a casual meal and a quick review of BUUF and UU history followed by a lively discussion of what we’re up to now and our plans for the future.

Our Allcomers evening is an excellent way for visitors and new members to learn about our past, present, and future as well as a way for long-time friends and members to reconnect with BUUF. Rev. Jim McConnell, Board President Lisa Fuller, and Director of Religious Education Dave Sarra will make presentations and answer any questions. This event is free of charge!

Green tip!

Don’t use plastic straws. By using a reusable glass or steel alternative, you can keep 584 plastic straws out of the oceans each year. Only 15% of the plastics we produce are properly recycled so that means out of 500 million straws produced every day, 425 million straws make their way into landfills every day. From there, most plastics eventually end up in our oceans and waterways. It takes thousands of years for one straw that was used for 10 minutes to break down. Reusable straws are an easy and affordable solution. Crush plastic!
