Kathy Fiebig, Voters Not Policitians Region 7 Co-Field Director, will be leading a Berrien County VNP canvassers training Wednesday, May 16, 6:30-8:00 pm, at Berrien Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 4340 Lincoln, St. Joseph. Feel free to invite friends to this event.

Environmental Justice Film Series: Return of the River
Thursday, May 17, 7:00-9:00pm
A 2016 documentary infused with hope, Return of the River, explores an unlikely victory for environmental justice and restoration. The film follows a group of committed tribal members and activists who attempt the impossible: to change the public opinion of a town and eventually the nation to bring two dams down. Ultimately the community comes to consensus, launching the largest dam removal in history. The film is 71 minutes, and after we watch it we’ll have a discussion about what actions we can take on climate change and other environmental justice issues. Free admission and popcorn is included. BYOB encouraged. Doors open at 6:30 PM and the film starts at 7:00 PM.
Sunday Service: Embracing the Chaos

The first Nobel Truth of Buddhism is: “Life is suffering.” This begs the question: What kind of suffering is redemptive and what kind is not? What kind of suffering will lead to transformation, joy and the gifts of the Creative Imagination (also known as the Holy Spirit). This Sunday, May 20th, we will examine these questions in a service titled, ”Embracing the Chaos.” Rev. Jim McConnell will deliver the sermon, David La Fleur and John Tusciuk will share their philosophy/theology of what it means to embrace chaos, Mary Lou Elson will sit in the Poet’s Corner, Candace Onweller will be at the Piano, Harvey Johnson and Gretchen Ohmann will lead our hymns and Persephone Tusciuk will tell a Story for All Ages.
Joanne Krettek and Terry Sundstrom will lead the Religious Education class for children, who will be engaging in artwork and possibly music related to the upcoming Summer Solstice service.
